The Heil Sound Pro 7 is an aviation-style headset designed for amateur radio use in high noise environments. The specially designed foam-gel ear pads provide 26 dB outside noise reduction and provide exceptional comfort. A true dual channel, stereo headset, the Pro 7 Series feature an audio balance control which allows the user to adjust the level of the left earphone to match the right. A unique phase-reversal switch greatly helps the listener “dig out” weak signals. The latest version of the Pro 7 features a monitor jack. The latest version of the Pro 7 features a monitor jack which allows a second operator to plug in headphones and monitor audio.
The flexible gooseneck mic boom on Pro 7s may be rotated for use on either the right or left ear. Two versions are available, depending on whether you require an electret or dynamic microphone element. The microphone elements are interchangeable. Check out the different element options here. The Heil Pro 7 headsets are available in black, red, and blue, and will work with current AD-1 series adapter cables and accessories.
The low distortion Dynamic HC-7 microphone element exhibits a frequency response of 100 Hz – 12 kHz with the -3dB points at 100 Hz and 12 kHz. The traditional Heil speech articulation rise is centered at 2K -4KHz with properly balanced highs and lows. The impedance is 600 ohm. The HC-7 is one of our best microphone elements for speech articulation.
The Heil Sound iC electret microphone element has been made to utilize bias power in iCOM radios which addresses low-gain issues that arise when using dynamic elements. The -3dB points are fixed at 80 Hz and 12.5 kHz. The iC element requires +5 volts DC bias power, which all iCOM rigs provide. The iC adapters have no internal DC blocking capacitor so bias voltage can be passed allowing the iC electret element to operate.
For the serious contest/DX operators, they can upgrade to the HC-74 microphone element, which is a redesign of the popular HC-4 element. This element is sold separately. It rolls off the low end at 600 Hz with a 10 dB rise at 2500-3000 Hz, which creates a very articulate signal to break through pileups. Check it out here!
All Pro 7 models are available in black, red, or blue finishes and includes the following accessories:
The balance control located on the left speaker controls the left speaker. To use, set a comfortable right side level with the AF gain of the receiver. You can then adjust the left side speaker where necessary to balance the audio between the speakers. In most cases, the balance control will be close to maximum.
Note: To use dynamic mic elements on vintage radios (requiring a high impedance input of 10k to 30k ohms) will require the use of an XT-1 impedance matching transformer.

When I received my call sign a few years back, I was flooded with purchases of junk. Fast forward to 2019. I decided I wanted to build another option, not a dealer who has the same stuff as everyone else, but a dealer who actually uses what he sells. And that’s exactly what I do. If you see a product on this page or one of our tables at Hamfest, you can bet we have tried it and like it. From Radios to connectors we strive to bring you QUALITY. Sure, you can find it cheaper and we understand that, but if you don’t want to buy it again in 6 months, take a look at what we sell and have already approved. I am always just a phone call away. Jim Gifford, KM4MPF.
